International Translation Day – Bridging Cultures with ITR!

ITR is pleased to recognise International Translation Day, a day that is celebrated every year on 30 September in honour of St. Jerome, the Bible Translator who is considered to be the patron saint of translators. The day was launched in 1991 by FIT (the International Federation of Translators) to bring the global translation community together and promote the translation profession worldwide.

The theme for this year’s International Translation Day is ‘Bridging Cultures’, which is what we do to help businesses target their global markets by translating and localising products such as software, online help, websites, eLearning modules and technical documentation into major commercial languages. Our in-house team come from 16 countries and we work with a network of over 3,000 linguists based in over 50 countries, so as you can imagine we are experienced in bridging cultures on a daily basis!

When developing a product for foreign markets, it is important to make sure that the content and coding is designed with localisation in mind. This will ensure that the product can be easily adapted for different cultures, which in turn speeds up the localisation process and results in time and cost savings for you. ITR offers best practice seminars on how to internationalise your products, so if you would like to learn more or discuss how we could help you bridge cultures with your translation or localisation projects, please contact us at info@itr.co.uk!
