ITR are Recruiting for a Logistics Manager

Main Purpose

As the Logistics Manager, you will be responsible for managing the successful logistics operation for ITR. You will manage the transport team, fleet, budget and other resources in a customer-focused and cost-efficient manner to meet the business requirements and support profitable growth. You will identify risks, issues and opportunities and deploy innovative solutions and techniques in response to them to improve the transport delivery. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Manage the day to day running of the department, assisting in the decision making processes of the team
  • Hands-on working in the department, assisting with the planning the routes and ensuring transport planning is as efficient as possible
  • Ability to control a​ ‘budget’ ​and identify opportunities where expenditure will produce improved efficiencies and be able to build a commercial case to support the expenditure
  • Planning of drivers holidays
  • Provide support and guidance to all members of the transport team
  • Identify training needs and implementing improvement programmes
  • Improve the focus on forward planning and presentation of information internally and externally
  • Meet the demands presented by same day, next day, and programmed multi-vehicle deliveries and collections to and from UK and European destinations
  • Establish strong working relationships with the most appropriate and efficient specialist transport companies
  • Understand that the customer is always a number one priority
  • To challenge historical processes/decision making to improve efficiencies
  • Manage the in-house/rental fleet to ensure legal compliance and maximum efficiencies
  • Monitor and improve driver behaviour and skills
  • Improve the image of ITR to our clients where using internal or external resources
  • Manage the recruitment process for the transport team
  • Maintain a happy team that have the skills necessary to delight our customers
  • Oversee the booking of company travel and accommodation

Knowledge, skills and experience

Essential

  • Good leadership and management skills
  • Minimum 3 years of transport planning in a similar size business
  • Ability to work under pressure and have the flexibility to respond to a variety of different work situations
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent organisation skills
  • Self-motivated and able to work on own initiative
  • Flexible approach to work and the desire to grow and develop as the role grows and develops
  • Confident and assertive manner
  • An approachable and compassionate nature
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable

  • Completion of previous training in the Carriage of Lithium Batteries by Road and Sea
