Here at ITR we are committed to supporting our local community, so we were delighted to be approached by Theatre Severn to provide visual solutions for Shrewsbury Amateur Operatic Society’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar at the town’s Theatre Severn. The group were keen to use one of our projectors to showcase static and moving content for the crowd, with visitor numbers expected to reach 2,300 across five performances. The show, created by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice, depicts political and interpersonal struggles between Judas Iscariot and Jesus that are not present in the Bible.

THE SOLUTION
Crystal clear and high-quality imagery was important to the show, so it was decided that projection equipment would be the best option to stream eye-catching visuals while also being flexible and easy to operate in a busy and bustling theatre. The projector also makes it possible to display imagery on curved or spherical surfaces, perfect for the cast of 50 people moving on stage to not disrupt the imagery. We were also informed that the projector must be easy to operate to help ensure the smooth running of the scheduled performances while not sacrificing quality for practicality.

THE EXPERIENCE
We opted for the X1 Panasonic RZ 12,000 Lumen Projector that is designed with events and staging in mind. The projector helped to stream a variety of static and moving content during the entertaining show that was never obstructed or affected by the cast on stage. We understand the importance of being socially responsible and supporting local theatre, and thus we provided the projector for the enjoyment of the theatre company and the local community who viewed the performance. The show was a resounding success, earning praise from theatregoers across the four dates it ran.
